Upcoming events

A great feature would be showing the next 'x' upcoming events. I don't mean the events coming in the next 'y' days.

A kind of chronological view of the agenda, where the first event shown is the next coming event. Like Google "Agenda view" (may be there's too much ajax on this google view):

It's much more useful than the current linear month view of phpicalendar. Because at the mid or at the end of the month you have to scroll down a lot to get on the current date. In addition, it doesn't show the events of the next month, not very useful when the current date is 30th of the month ...

I'm also looking for this feature. I tried implementing it through a custom template, but that seems impossible without extensively modifying template.php ...
